Wedding Day Emergency Kit: A Lifesaving Way to Keep Your Inner Bridezilla at Bay

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

A stain on your dress before the ceremony, blisters on your feet at the reception: Weddings are made up of “make it work” moments, so be prepared with a wedding emergency kit—it’s sure to be a lifesaver! Here are some tips on what to include in your kit—and unique ways to use it—from the experts at Long Island’s renowned wedding venue, the Crest Hollow Country Club so your ceremony and reception are as stress-free as possible.

1. Be prepared for dress malfunctions.

Things happen: last-minute alterations are needed, unexpected rips occur, buttons fall off, things need to be cut, so a mini sewing kit should be an essential part of your emergency kit. For frayed hems or ribbons, keep a lighter on hand. To be rid of unwanted stains, pack a stain removing pen. If that still doesn’t do the trick, keep a piece of white chalk in your kit; this will camouflage any pesky stains.

2. Consider your venue.

Outdoor wedding or just taking pictures in the sun? Be ready with sunblock and bug spray to avoid uncomfortable burns and bites. And whether you’re celebrating outside or dancing up a storm inside, you’ll want to keep yourself feeling fresh and dry; throw in a mini bottle of baby powder to take care of any sweaty situations.

3. Avoid being a hungry bride.

Keep snacks on hand such as granola bars, fruit or nuts, as well as water bottles. To avoid smudging your lipstick while fueling up, you’ll want to include straws in your emergency kit; this way your pout will stay picture-perfect all day. After filling up on snacks, keep mints in the kit to keep your breath fresh.

4. Comfort is key.

After a long day on your feet, they’re bound to want some relief; include a friction stick or Band-Aids to avoid or alleviate any pain from your fabulous shoes—beauty doesn’t always have to mean pain! For other potential annoyances, pack a nail file to keep your manicure fresh, blotting papers for a flawless face, static cling for irritating fabrics, and bobby pins to maintain your perfectly coiffed ‘do.
